Regulatory Document Review
The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is continually working to improve its regulations and processes to ensure Alberta’s energy resources are developed in a manner that is responsible, safe, and efficient.
The ERCB recently reviewed its remaining interim directives (IDs) and informational letters (ILs). As a result of this review, one interim directive was rewritten into a directive.
Directive 082: Operating Criteria; Resource Recovery Requirements for Oil Sands Mine and Processing Plan Operations replaces ID 2001-07: Operating Criteria: Resource Recovery Requirements for Oil Sands Mine and Processing Plant Sites.
The revision to this directive included updating references, eliminating redundant requirements, and updating formats to current ERCB standards. New regulatory requirements were not added as part of this rewrite.
Nine IDs and ILs are being rescinded as part of this review (see attachment). These publications contain requirements that are no longer relevant or that are duplicated in other directives or regulations. Their rescission does not impact public safety, environmental protection, or resource conservation.
Questions regarding this bulletin should be directed to the Regulatory Development Branch by telephone (403-297-8364) or e-mail (email@example.com).
