Regulatory Documents Review

The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is continually working to improve its regulations and processes to ensure Alberta’s energy resources are developed in a manner that is responsible, safe, and efficient. Since 2004, the ERCB has been consolidating interim directives (IDs) and informational letters (ILs) into directives and regulations and rescinding obsolete regulatory publications.

The ERCB recently reviewed its remaining IDs and ILs. The review resulted in 17 IDs and ILs being rescinded. These publications were rescinded because they contained requirements that were no longer relevant or were duplicated in other directives or regulations. Their rescission does not impact public safety, environmental protection, or resource conservation.

A list of the 17 rescinded informational letters and interim directives is attached. A complete listing of IDs and ILs currently in effect can be viewed on the ERCB website at www.ercb.ca: Regulations and Directives.

Questions regarding this bulletin should be directed to the Regulatory Development Branch by telephone (403-297-8364) or e-mail (ercb.regman@ercb.ca).
